World Music Day at the Alliance française of Chittagong
In June 21, the Alliance française of Chittagong organized the ‘’fête de la musique’’.
To celebrate World Music Day, like 700 cities in more than 100 countries, Alliance Française de Chittagong organizes a concert in its auditorium on June 21st with the support of the Embassy of France in Bangladesh and PHP Family.
Yameen Khan and his band from Dhaka will perform a rich palette of sounds and textures. They share a collective penchant for improvisation and a propensity to cross genre boundaries, drawing from range of traditions including blues, jazz and rock.
They will follow a song contest by selected young music lovers covering songs in Bengali, English and French on the theme of « Let’s live the Music Together - Solidarity » initiated by the French government. The screening of a French musical will be scheduled in the afternoon and will remain open to all.
Along with the concert, an exhibition on French iconic singer Brassens created by “La Cité de la Musique”, Paris, will be displayed at Alliance française from June 21st to June 28th.
Celebrated worldwide, the World Music Day was first launched in 1982 in France to develop cultural networks abroad and values shared through music. And it is a mission of Alliance française to gather people with their differences through arts and culture.
