JP’s art prize for contemporary photography in Bangladesh

Ars Cultura is an association created to foster and promote the emergence of artistic talent.
Driven by the desire to develop artistic exchanges between France and emerging countries, Ars Cultura aims to create an award for contemporary photography in Bangladesh.
The ambition of "JP’s art prize for contemporary photography in Bangladesh" was born after the exhibition “Cinégraphies et Apparitions” realized by Jean-Philippe Pernot (“JP”) in Dhaka at the invitation of the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts in August 2010. Artist Shahabuddin Ahmed advised him to support artistic creation in Bangladesh.

“The Portrait” is the theme of this very first edition of the "JP’s art prize for contemporary photography in Bangladesh". Thus the candidates must express their potential in one of these following categories : “Artistic Creation” and “Documentary”.
A jury made up by the sponsors of the 2012 edition, the famous painter and freedom fighter Shahabuddin Ahmed and a French genius photographer Jean-Philippe Pernot, as well as other personalities will be gathered in March to vote.

The Winnings for the laureates from each category are :
50.000 DBT (1st)
30.000 DBT (2nd)
20.000 DBT (3rd)

An exhibition of the two best first laureates in each category (creation and documentary) will take place on March 2013 at “LA GALERIE” in Alliance Française de Dhaka. The opening ceremony of this exhibition will be the occasion for Ars Cultura to give the « JP’s Prize » to the laureates and gather several personalities from the artistic scene of Bangladesh.
This contest is only opened for Bangladeshi citizen being between 18-35 years old, professional, student or amateur.

You can register at the Alliance française or by mail by writing to Charles Ndjandjo, representative of Ars Cultura in Bangladesh : charles1907@live.fr
