Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris PhD Scholarships and Post-Doctoral Program
The Foundation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris offers 18 years of post-doctoral positions in mathematics and in computer science. These positions are for one or two year and are to be filled as from 1st October 2015, in the research laboratories affiliated to the Foundation. In addition, FSMP is offering 2 PhD scholarships.
This call is intended for students who did not prepare a Master in France.
It is open from October 15 until December 15, 2014, for contracts starting in fall 2015.
Two positions are offered.
The selection process will be managed by the Scientific committee of the FSMP in January 2015. Selected applicants will be invited for a 2 or 3-month pre-doctoral training in Paris, which is mandatory and should take place before end of july 2015. Under the responsibility of their intended PhD advisor, in their future research team, they will work on a research project and write a memoir. After completion of the research project, the intended PhD advisor will establish a report. Both documents will be sent to the steering commitee. In view of the memoir and of the report, the steering committee takes the final decision concerning the funding of the applicant. Successful applicants will then be invited to enter this PhD program.
Housing and travel expenses during the training will be covered by the FSMP : up to 1500 euros for 3 months or 500 euros per month.
All applications must be done using the online form.
Furthermore, future PhD students are strongly encouraged to also apply to the DIM RDM-IdF program. Dates of this call will be specified later (in 2014, it opened on March 1st). This program is the main PhD fellowships program in mathematics in the Ile-de-France region with an annual tendering of 11 allowances for a 3-year thesis.
Successful applicants will receive about 1450 euros (net salary, social benefits included) per month as a salary (Contrat d’études doctorales, subject to the décret n° 2009-464, April 23, 2009; the exact amount may vary depending on the universities). This is a 3-year contract. The contract starts after the inscription in one of the Ecoles doctorales in the perimeter of the foundation and is automatically interrupted if the inscription is not renewed on time.
