2015 Programs for authors, publishers, translators, and other culture professionals

A number of programs aimed at foreign culture professionals are organized by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

Publishers

Support is available from the National Book Centre, the French Institute, and the Embassy cultural section to publish the translation of a French work in a foreign language.

In addition, orientation and training programmes are hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Communication and offered by the World Cultures Institute.

Fellowship Programme in Paris

The Bureau International de l’Édition Française (office for the promotion of French publishing abroad) in cooperation with the CNL (National Book Centre), the City of Paris, the Region Île de France and SOFIA (the French Society, whose vocation is to defend the interests of authors of the written word) is organizing the Paris Fellowship program.

During this event, the BIEF wishes to invite 14 publishers, specialized in literature and the Humanities, from all parts of the world, to visit the Paris Book Fair and to meet French publishers and rights managers for one week. The candidates should have 3 years experience as a publisher.

The program will focus on professional exchanges between you and your French colleagues, seminars on the French book market, the translation of literature and the humanities and on the main issues of publishing today in your countries and in France.

Authors and Translators

Temporary residency grants are offered by the National Book Centre for authors and translators.

Librarians

Orientation and training programmes are hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Communication and offered by the World Cultures Institute, the French National Library, and the French Public Information Library.

Odyssee artist-in-residency program

With the support of the French Ministry of culture and communication, the ACCR has been coordinating the Odyssée artist-in-residency program. The program is aiming at artists, researchers and culture professionals from countries other than France wanting to develop projects within French Cultural Centers – Historic Monuments. More than 400 artists from over 50 different countries have taken part in the program, developing projects in different areas such as music, architecture, arts and crafts, visual arts, dramatic writing, novel writing, scriptwriting, animated film-making, photography and journalism.
